Arousin Warning
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of the brand Arousin a dietary supplement sold to promote sexual enhancement. The FDA said Atlas Operations Inc. of Pompano Beach, Fla., initiated the voluntary recall.
According to an FDA spokesperson, “Arousin is currently being sold as a dietary supplement throughout the U.S”. However, the Food and Drug Administration lab analyses found the products contain Sulfoaildenafil, an analogue of Sildenafil, an FDA-approved drug used as treatment for male erectile dysfunction, making these products an unapproved drug. The active drug ingredient is not listed on the product label.”
The FDA said that undeclared ingredient might pose a threat because the interaction of the analogue with some prescription drugs can lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take other prescription drugs. Erectile Dysfunction is a common problem in men with these conditions, and consumers may seek these types of products to enhance sexual performance.

The Bottom Line
This unapproved drug is unsafe. Arousin is being sold as a dietary supplement, which contains Sulfoaildenafil. Sulfoaildenafil is an FDA-approved drug used as treatment for male Erectile Dysfunction (ED) making this product an unapproved drug. In addition, the active drug ingredient is not listed on the product label. If you have had an adverse reaction or quality problems experienced with the use of Arousin, you can report this to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program.
